This piece was developed from many years of watching the waves before paddling out for a surf session. I wanted to capture the moment when the breezy off-shore wind meets the incoming tide as the sea bed gradually rises as it approaches the beach, creating beautifully clean, glass like, breaking waves on the Cornish sea shore. As you look beyond the break, out the back, you can see the emergence of the next set of waves as the colours of the water deepens and the swell starts to rise. Despite the drama and movement of the waves in the fore ground there is also a calmness and stillness across the water in the middle ground.
