A sense of timeless space inspired by the view from the Porth Kidney side of the Hayle estuary looking along the three mile stretch of beach between towards Gwithian on the north side of St. Ives Bay. This piece focuses on the ever changing meeting point between land and sea—the slow, rhythmic curve of water moving across the sand.
I was drawn to the contrast here: the bright, open sky against the grounded stillness of the beach, and that striking ribbon of turquoise pulling everything together. It’s a place that feels both expansive and familiar at the same time—never static, but never overwhelming.
The small figures in the distance give a sense of scale and solitude, something you only really notice when you’re there in person.
This piece works particularly well in:
- Calm, neutral interiors
- Coastal or contemporary spaces
- Rooms with natural light where the colours can open up
Ideal as a centrepiece—especially in a living room or above a bed where the horizontal flow has space to breathe.
